Spanglish Summer

We've just returned from a mini-vacation to the beach, and plans are underway to make a more concerted effort to increase our Spanish, or at least Spanglish, en casa.  Big Brother will be attending language camp in July which will hopefully motivate him more and more to have confidence con su español.

Little Sister is babbling bunches these days and will hopefully have a better start than Big Brother did, but that's a story for another day.

We just want our hijitos to have it easier than we did learning another language.  Solo tenemos que poner mas pilas a este esfuerzo!

Gracias por sus consejos! :)

  1. ¡Qué bueno! So excited that you have a blog now! Love the look - nice and fresh.

As for your Spanish (er, Spanglish? lol) Summer - mis consejos son - be patient and just force yourself to do it - even when it's easier NOT to do it. It pays off in a big way - more so with your kids since they're still young. You'll be so excited by the linguistic changes you see in them within just a few weeks - te prometo!

  2. We went for a walk around the neigbhorhood before supper and that proved to be a great time for practice about everyday things.

We also got to see the Copa de Oro and they were both cheering on the USA...thank goodness they both fell asleep before the final ;)

It's not just the vocabulary of the language I want them to get, but the cultura tambien...that's where "futbol" comes in.

    Gracias amiga!
